Abstract
509,598. Moving signs ; clocks. ENHOLM, N. Nov. 18, 1937, No. 31781. [Classes 3 (i) and 139] In display devices of the kind in which a translucent mirror having a rearward reflecting surface is placed in front of a mirror having a forward reflecting surface and having associated therewith display matter or objects which are seen in multiple reflection through the front mirror, one or both of the mirrors is given a continuous movement. Fig. 4 shows in plan a stationary front mirror 11 and a rear mirror 14 pivoted medially about a vertical axis and oscillated by a pitman 20 connected to a rotating disc 18. The mirror 14 may oscillate about a horizontal axis, or both mirrors may be given an independent or a concurrent movement. In another form, the rear mirror is mounted on gimbals and given a swash-plate motion. Alternatively, one or both mirrors are swung to and fro, and their approach and recession may be utilized to produce a draught of air to cool the lamps and motor. The display matter may be on, or cut out of, the mirrors, or may be located in front of the forward mirror. In another form, an image is optically-projected on to the front mirror. The display matter may comprise the numerals of a clock dial, the mirrors being perforated to allow the hand shafts to pass through. With an electric clock, the clock motor may effect movement of the mirrors.
