Abstract
507,820. Forging rock drills. COOK, C. E. Aug. 18, 1938, No. 24305. Convention date, Sept. 3, 1937. [Class 83 (iv)] A detachable rock drill bit shank A is formed with a dovetail groove by first forming a parallel groove therein placing it in dies 1, 3 and using a dolly 6 with a dovetail projection 8 to forge the slot to shape. The dolly has a removable part 7 sliding in a cylindrical part 5 of the body and after the forging operation the parts 7 may be detached from the drill shank by striking it.
