Abstract
506,750. Self-coiling reels; taking-up slack'of flexible conductors.. DADINA, P. L. Dec. 2, 1937, No. 33406. [Class 99 (ii)] [Also in Group XXX] A self-coiling reel 1 for the flex 6 of a telephone, flat iron, &c. is rotatably mounted in a casing 20 which is provided with a bracket 23 and clamping screw 24 for securing it to a table and with a plug adapter 18, 19 which is connected by a length of flex to a wall supply-plug.. The outer end of the flex 6 is fitted with an adapter 22, and the inner end is connected to slip rings 12, 13 on an axial extension 27 of the reel, the wire 8 by a metal strip 10 to the ring 13 and the wire 9 by a strip 11 to the ring 12. In the form shown in Fig. 1, the slip rings are surrrounded by ring brushes 14, 15 carried by rigid arms 16, 17 pivotally mounted on the terminals 18, 19, but the brushes may be connected to the terminals by short flexible conductors, or alternatively, the reel may be vertically movable in its casing with the slip rings resting in forked contact members fixed to the bottom thereof. The spring 4 of the reel is,mounted in a housing 5 on one of the flanges 2 of the latter, the inner end of the spring being secured to the non-rotatable spindle (not shown) of the reel and the outer end to the flange 2.
