Water-tube boilers of sectional type comprise upper and lower banks of tubes secured at the lower end to header chambers fed in common from the bottom, and preferably only from the bottom, by downcomers from an upper drum, and secured at the upper end to header chambers having separate egress ducts. The common feed may be introduced by downcomers passing between the water-tubes. The lower bank tubes may be expanded at one or both ends into a transverse mud drum. In the double-ended type, a common transverse steam and water drum H is arranged at the centre of the length of the boiler with downcomers i, i<1> to both mud drums u, u<1> and the inner ends of the individual boilers are spaced apart to form an access chamber A. The lower and upper tube banks a, a<1>, b, b<1> are respectively connected to separate header chambers e, e<1>, f, f<1>.
