Abstract
504,355. Spiked plates. GRAVES, W. T., and IMPROVED WOOD PAVEMENT CO., Ltd. Oct. 21, 1937, No. 28688. [Class 89 (ii)] [Also in Group X] A metal wire, rod, or like member 1 is interposed between the walls of adjacent courses of wood, or like blocks constituting a paved surface, and is provided with oppositelydirected projections 2 driven into the vertical walls of the two courses of blocks to lock them in their correct relative positions, the blocks not being provided with grooves to receive the projections or teeth. The teeth 2 may be in the form of V-shaped portions cut or stamped from the upper edges of a metal strip 1 and bent at right-angles thereto ; alternate teeth project on opposite sides of the strip. The teeth may, alternatively, be provided on both the upper and lower edges of the strip, the corresponding teeth being bent in opposite directions. The strips may be arranged diagonally of, and in a zigzag manner across, the courses of blocks. When the strip 1 is in the form of a wire, bar, or rod it may be of circular cross-section with the projections extending radially of the section in a plurality of directions.
