Abstract
504,221. Electrically-actuated valves. PALIT, A. R. April 11, 1938, No. 10997. [Class 135] Apparatus for discharging a predetermined quantity of liquid, particularly for flushing purposes, comprises a valve chamber, open to the main &c. with an electrically operated outlet valve, the outlet passage having a branch passage to supply a part of the liquid discharged to a chamber containing liquid operating mechanism to break the electric circuit so as to close the outlet valve. In the construction shown a chamber 1, open to a main 6 or a service reservoir, has an outlet closed by a valve 4. The outlet pipe 7a has a branch 7c leading to a chamber 2 containing a float 5. The valve, which is carried by a lever arm 9, is opened by closing an electric circuit to energize an electromagnet 14 and is closed by a spring s when a contact 13 carried by the float 5 breaks the circuit. The water in the chamber 2 is discharged through a valve 10a, into the down pipe 7, when the valve 4 is closed.
