Abstract
504,166. Pontoon rafts. TECALEMIT, Ltd. June 7, 1938, No. 16970. Convention date, June 7, 1937. -[Class 113 (i)] [Also in Group XXI] A floating apparatus forming a mooring buoy and a re-fuelling station for aircraft, boats, &c. comprises a body containing a fuel tank or tanks occupying the major part of the body, and an oil tank or tanks, pumping apparatus for the fuel &c. being mounted on the body. A cylindrical-conical body 1, with ballast 8, contains a lower fuel reservoir 2 divided by diametrical partitions 2a with openings 2b for flow of the fuel, plates 2c limiting rolling. An annular oil tank 4 is arranged above the reservoir 2 and is surrounded by a radially-divided air container 5. Centrally of the deck 6 is a kiosk 7 containing the fuel pumping &c. plant comprising a motor pump 10 and a hand pump 12 alternatively connectible to the suction pipe 13 by a valve 15, and, through further valves, to a common discharge pipe containing an air separator and a meter the discharge pipe is connected through the shaft of a spool 22 to a delivery pipe 23 wound on the. spool. Through a byepass 25, the pump 10 may be used for filling the reservoir 2, while a hand pump 28 and pipe 29 permit removal of water separated from the fuel and its discharge through a pipe 30 and valved funnel 31. A further pump delivers oil from the tank 4 through the shaft of a coaxial spool 34 to a discharge pipe 35 wound 'on the spool. The outer ends of the fuel and oil discharge pipes are supported by rollers 53. A bulwark 38, with fenders 39, 40, surrounds the deck. A tubular signal mast 47, in two parts threaded together, contains an exhaust pipe for the pump motor and air inlet &c. pipes connected to the reservoir 2 and tank 4, and supports a pulley 54 over which the oil &c. discharge pipes may be passed ; the mast also supports a gangway 58 which may be automatically positioned by moans of wind vanes. The kiosk also carries a mooring rail 56. Water &c. tanks may also be provided.
