Abstract
503,601. Collecting paint spray. UNITED SHOE MACHINERY CORPORATION. Sept. 4, 1937, No. 24184. Convention date, Sept. 9, 1936. [Class 8 (ii)] [Also in Group III] Apparatus for coating shoe parts by spraying comprises a stand carrying a supporting arm for the spray gun, a regulating member at the gun, an operator-controlled member remote from the gun, and a jointed connection between the regulating member and the operatorcontrolled member, said connection being such that the position of the gun relative to the stand may be adjusted without any substantial interference with the adjustment of the regulating member for the gun as determined by the connection. The apparatus shown comprises a stand 12, a collecting hood 10, a cloth filter 14, an electrically driven fan 16 in the sheet-metal duct 34, and a spray gun 20 supported by an adjustable arm which includes a tube 22 through which passes one member of a connection from a treadle 24 to a trigger 96 actuating the valves of the gun. The liquid to be sprayed is supplied to the gun 20 from a cup 73, and spray which does not impinge upon the work, is largely caught either by a baffle plate 50 or by the filter 14. The filter may consist of cheese cloth, drawn from a roll 54 and passing through slots 58, 62. The width of the lower slot 62 may be adjusted by means of the horizontal portion 70 of the baffle plate. The tube 22 may be swung from side to side, and also up and down, and may be clamped in adjusted position. The tube 22 carries arms 128 and 132, and the gun 20 is clamped to the latter. After loosening screws, the gun may be adjusted in two angularly related planes. The connection between the bell crank trigger 96 and the treadle 24, comprises members 158, 164, 170, 174, and 186, and is so articulated in relation to the supporting arm for the gun, that all of the four gun adjustments may be made without any substantial interference with the adjustment of the connection.
