503,072. Elastic - fluid turbines ; steam engines. SULZER FRERES SOC. ANON. Nov. 7, 1938, No. 32265. Convention date, Feb. 11. [Classes 110 (iii) and 122 (iii)] A plant comprising a steam generator 1, supplying high and low pressure stages of a turbine 4, with an intermediate superheater 6 between the stages, is provided with a byepass 11, which connects tube systems 1, 6 during the heating up of the generator. , Steam exhausted from the turbine passes to a condenser 8 leading to a tank or accumulator 10, and a feed pump 2 supplies' water to the generator. A valve 12 is actuated by a servomotor 13 which is influenced by the steam pressure in the main 3 through a pipe 14. A valve 16 in a byepass 15 from the pipe 7 to the tank 10 is controlled by a servomotor 25 influenced through a pipe 17 by the pressure in the pipe 7. Thermostats 21, 24 keep valves 18, 22 closed during the heating up of the generator, acting through servomotors 19, 23. The feed pump then causes high pressure to be set up in the tubes, and the valves 12, 16 are opened by the servomotors 13, 25 to allow circulation through the tubes and back to the tank 10. At the required temperature the valves 18, 22 are opened through the influence of the thermostats 21, 24. The consequent reduction in pressure causes servomotors 13, 25 to close valves 12, 16. The settings of the thermostats and servomotors may be varied. The pipe 15 may lead to the condenser, instead of to the tank. Salt eliminators may be used in the tube system.
