Abstract

500,996. Electric resonators; wireless transmitting apparatus. BORMANN, O. Feb. 7, 1938, No. 3802. Convention date, Feb. 8, 1937. [Classes 40(iii) and 40 (v)] A bridge 7, Fig. 2, for tuning a high-frequency feeder 4, 5 of the coaxial type or of the Lecherwire type, Fig. 1 (not shown), is made one quarter of a wave-length long and is shortcircuited at one end 73, so that contact resistance may have no effect, the open-circuited end 74 being located at a current node. The tuning-member 7 may be positioned by means of a knob 8 or of a micrometer screw, and its inner and outer parts 70, 71 may be slotted to provide a resilient fit. The invention may be applied to dielectric guides of the kind described in Specification 493,695, Fig. 3 (not shown). In order that the tuning-member may be usable for different wave-lengths, it may comprise inner and outer collapsable conductors 13a, 14a, Fig. 4, and a screw 25 for adjusting its length may be provided. The invention may be used with valves of the kind described in Specification 452,490.
