Abstract
500,901. Mould materials. DURAND, J. B. Dec. 6, 1937, No. 33735. Convention date, Jan. 29. [Class 83 (i)] Mould material consisting of subhydrated cement and sand is made suitable for use in casting magnesium and its alloys by adding about 1 to 5 per cent of sulphur to the whole mass from which the mould is made or to that part which will come into contact with the cast metal. 0À1 to 0À3 per cent of ammonium fluoride may also be added to the material or a concentrated solution of ammonium fluoride or boric acid may be sprayed onto the inner surface of the finished mould or both.
