[Class 12 (i)] [Also in Group XXXI] A bearing 9 for the propeller shaft 4, 5 of a motor vehicle is mounted in a member 13 by means of rubber or other elastic deformable material 12, and the member 13 is mounted on the vehicle frame 1 by means of felt or other frictional damping means 20. The rubber acts as a sound-absorbing medium and the felt as a vibration-damping device. The rubber block 12 is compressed between the outer ball race 10 and the member 13, the latter being formed with a radial flange 17 held by felt pads 20 in an annular pocket formed by plates 18, 19 of which 18 is bolted to the frame. The ball bearing is provided with dirt-excluding washers 11, and dished throw-off plates 15, 16 are mounted on the shaft 4.
