[Class 118 (i)] [Also in Group XXV] In a fastening for a cabinet having one or more doors, drawers, or the like, blocked by a key lock, a mechanical device, controlled by the lock and by feelers co-operating with the drawers, gives a visual indication when the fastening is in engaging position and all the drawers have been closed. Each drawer B is fastened by a catch 20, fixed to a lifter 19, engaging a hook 23 pivoted to the drawer and held in its uppermost position by a spring 24, this arrangement enabling the drawer to be closed after the fastening has been moved to the engaging position. The lifter 19 is actuated by a crank 13 on the end of a shaft 10 which extends to the front of the cabinet and is turned by a knob 11. Release of the fastening is prevented by pressing the end 16 of a push-button 5 into the path of a member 14 pivoted to the crank 12 on the shaft 10, the push-button being locked in its innermost position by a blade spring 3 snapping into a notch in the button shank. The push-button is unlocked by turning the cylinder 1 of a keylock when a cam 2 depresses the blade spring, allowing the button to be pressed out by the spring 9a acting through the rod 9 and pin and slot joint 6, 8. The end 31 of the rod 9 contacts the end of a rod 30 and causes the indicator 25 to swing in front of the opening 27. If with all the drawers closed the fastening is engaged and the push-button pressed in, the rod 30, under the influence of the spring 33, follows the motion of the rod 9 and the indicator moves to the "locked" position. If, however, the lifter 19 is lowered to engaging position and the push-button pressed before all the drawers have been closed, the end of the feeler 40 corresponding to each open drawer will not contact the hook 23, and consequently the spring 44 will press the feeler downwards and the upper end 42 will turn the bell-crank lever 38, 37 and move the projection 35 carried by the rod 34 in front of the projection 32 on the rod 30. thus preventing it from following the movement of the rod 9, so that the indicator still shows "open." Immediately the last drawer is closed its feeler is lifted by the hook 23, since spring 24 is stronger than spring 44, and a spring 36 on the rod 34 removes the projection 35 from the path of the projection 32 of the rod 30, allowing the indicator to move to show that the fastening operation has been completed. The indicator 25 is preferably painted a different colour from the cabinet and the backing 26, and instead of covering the hole 27 when the drawers are open, it may be arranged to do so when they are locked, in which case the backing 26 may be transparent and may be illuminated. The invention is also described as applied to a cabinet-door having multiple bolts.
