Abstract

496,528. Inductances. MICHAELIS, E. Dec. 23, 1937, No. 35600. Convention date, Dec. 24, 1936. [Class 38 (ii)] In a magnetic dust core for high-frequency coils of the kind comprising a stationary and a movable core both mounted inside the coil windings, the stationary core 1, Fig. 1, and movable core 2 are both hollow and form an annular cylindrical gap between them, and both are mounted concentrically with respect to a spindle 3, the movable core 2 being secured to a member 4 which is in screw-threaded engagement with the spindle, so that the cores may be relatively displaced one within the other, the cross-section of the gap between the cores remaining constant. The movable core may be so shaped that the self-inductance of the coil is approximately proportional to the axial displacement of the movable core. Fig. 2 shows such an arrangement wherein the movable core 2 is of mushroom shape with a resilient slotted disc 5 secured in its wider end to engage the spindle 3 as described in Specification 495,605.
