Abstract
496,151. Casting machines. TAMA, M. Aug. 17, 1937, No. 22583. Convention date, Aug. 18, 1936. [Class 83 (i)] Moulds; cores.-A pipe is cast by pouring molten metal into a copper mould i, cooled externally as by a water jacket k and provided with a graphite, ceramic, or like core d and withdrawing the solidified pipe g by rollers u driven by gearing s, r. The mould may be reciprocated axially by an eccentric v and the core may be mounted, by a bolt c, on the metal-supply tube a which is connected to a refractory dish n with a partition p perforated at o to pass the metal from the ladle but hold back any slag. The tube a is of ceramic or other material resistant to the metal cast and has discharge slots b just above the core. It may be heated as by means of electric resistances.
