Abstract

493,993. Haymaking; preserving crops. GRONERT, A. Jan. 26, 1938, No. 2495. [Classes 5 (i) and 6 (iii)] [Also in Group XIII] Portable apparatus for ventilating and drying stacked crops, e.g. in the compartments of a barn, comprises air supply mains 3, open at one end and provided with perforate distribution pipes 4, and a blower 7 for application to the open ends of the mains. The blower may be formed with a heating jacket and is driven by an electric motor supplied with current through a lead 8. Fig. 2 shows apparatus suitable for drying crops in the open in which the distribution pipes are arranged in four sections enclosed by frames 17. In this case, the crops are supported on perforate plates 12 placed over the pipes, and the blower 7 is connected to a portable air heater 11. The air main and the pipes are formed in sections, e.g. of the forms shown in Figs. 6 to 8, 10, 18, 20, interconnected by sleeves 20, Fig. 17.
