Abstract
493,007. Image dissectors. FARNSWORTH TELEVISION, Inc. Aug. 6, 1937, No. 21697. Convention date, Aug. 18, 1936. [Class 39 (i)] In a television system an infra-red image is projected on a thermionically emissive cathode 7 the resultant composite electron image being focused and deflected over a dissector consisting of a collector anode 15 within an apertured, shielding anode 12; the television signal may be obtained by the electrons collected on the anode 15 or this may emit secondaries collected by the shielding anode 12, this secondary emission forming the basis of the signals. As shown an arc 22 projects heat rays through a film 2, the rays being focused by the projector 26 onto the cathode 7 ; this is opaque, formed on the envelope wall and consists of caesium on silver or caesium-silver oxide. The varying density of the picture on the film 2 gives rise to varying heating of the cathode 7. Initial heating of the cathode may be effected by the lamps 27, 29.
