Abstract

491,758. Image dissectors. ZEISS IKON AKT.-GES. Oct. 7, 1937, No. 27279. Convention date, Nov. 13, 1936. Drawings to Specification. [Class 39 (i)] The stop-like anode of an image dissector is made like an electron lens comprising two or more apertured electrodes and means are provided for varying the potential of one or more electrodes for controlling the effective aperture of the stop. Preferably three electrodes are provided, the inner one being at a variable negative potential with respect to the photoelectric cathode. In another form four electrodes are formed into closely spaced pairs ; preferably the inner adjacent electrodes of the two pairs are conductively connected to enable them to be maintained at the same negative potential with respect to the cathode. The electrodes may be apertured discs mounted together in an insulating ring which rests on the envelope.
