Abstract

[Class 41] [Also in Group XVI] The non-printing areas of a relief or intaglio printing plate are provided with a coating of matt crystalline chromium. The chromium is preferably deposited electrolytically from a bath containing about 60 per cent chromic acid and 6 per cent sulphuric acid at a temperature of from 5-7‹ C. using a current density of about 250-350 amperes per square foot at a potential of about 9 volts.
