Abstract

489,656. Typewriters &c. SHERMAN, J. Q., and STANDARD REGISTER CO. Jan. 30, 1937, No. 2809. [Class 100 (iv)] Ink-ribbon mechanism ; paper-feeding arrangements.-In machines wherein stationery is fed past a platen and is interleaved with transfer-ribbons which are fed longitudinally of the platen, stationery 3, Fig. 1, having marginal perforations is fed by means of pinwheels 9 which have part of their periphery in alignment with the platen, preferably a bar 30, and are provided with pins 10 adapted to be retracted when at the printing line, the arrangement enabling the ribbons to be threaded without interference by the pins. In the construction shown in Fig. 3, a shaff 8, mounted in the carriage 57 and operated by the line-spacing mechanism, carries pin-wheels of the kind described in Specification 408,125. The pins are retracted when at the printing line by means of stationary cams secured to a sleeve 19 which is anchored by means of an arm 20, or is adjustable by means of a knob. The pin-wheels are adjustable laterally. The platen-bar 30 is supported by discs 29 which are supported by the sleeve 19 and a rod 21. Arms 32 on the rod 21 are formed with ribbonguides 33 having channels on the upper edges. Slotted keepers 35, Fig. 1, hold the edges of the stationery in engagement with the projected pins. Feed-rollers 25 may co-operate with the pin-wheels.
