Abstract

488,175. Endless-chain and belt conveyers. BUD, K., and ECONOMIC DISTRIBUTORS, Ltd. Feb. 9, 1938, No. 4065. [Class 78 (i)] A conveyer for cylindrical articles, such as dollies for electric cells, comprises an endless chain which is driven in stepby - step manner and the position of which during intervals of rest is determined by the engagement therewith of a reciprocated member. Each link 2 of the chain 1 is formed with an aperture 23 and carries two pairs of rollers 4 which form supports for the dollies 5. The apertures are engageable by a pin 14 which is slidably mounted in the end of a pivoted lever 8 and is supported by a block 19 pivoted to one end of a pivoted lever 15. The levers 8, 15 are rocked by cams 10, 17, respectively, to withdraw the pin from one aperture, move it into position below the next aperture, insert it into the aperture, and move the chain through a distance equal to the distance between the apertures. The chain may, however, be driven solely by the wheels 6 in which case, since the pin 14 is used solely for correctly positioning the link in its working position, the cam 10 and lever 8 may be dispensed with. The chain may be replaced by a band having equidistant openings. Specifications 402,340 and 467,148, [both in Group XXXVI], are referred to.
