Abstract

[Class 78 (i)] [Also in Groups II and XXIV] A vibratory sieve or conveyer comprises two bodies vibrated in a circular or elliptical path by a crank-shaft, the axis of which approximately coincides with a horizontal axis through the centre of gravity of the system, the two bodies being connected with each other near their ends by double - armed horizontally mounted rockers. In the form shown in Fig. 3, the two sieves 1, 2 are vibrated by cranks set 180‹ apart, the crank-shaft being approximately coaxial with a horizontal axis through the centre of gravity of the system and supported solely by the two sieves. The two sieves are interconnected near each end and on each side by a rocker 4 carried resiliently in a fixed support 7, 8 and extending into sleeves 91 carried by the two sieves. In the form shown in Fig. 7, the sieves 1, 2 are suspended by links 4a above and below the crank-shaft 3 from rockers 4b which each move in a vertical plane. The sieve or conveyer 2 may be replaced by a counterweight. The arrangement enables the balance of the oppositely moving bodies to be obtained without using buffer springs.
