Abstract

486,929. Prepayment mechanism for meters. ALLGEMEINE ELEKTRICITATS GES. Dec. 9, 1936, No. 33876. Convention date, Dec. 9, 1935. [Class 27] In a prepayment meter for gas, electricity, &c. the consumption meter drives the prepayment mechanism through a tariff device which is arranged and operates as described in Specification 437,761, [Group XXXVI]. As shown diagrammatically, the prepayment mechanism A has a shaft 1 connected to the planet wheel of a differential mechanism, one sun wheel of which is rotated by prepayment and the other by the meter through a wheel 2. The meter drives through a tariff device B which includes an actuating disc 4 corresponding to the disc 12 shown in Figs. 3a, 3b, 3c of Specification 437,761. The disc 4 operates either a pawl 5 to rotate a wheel 6 and thereby drive the wheel 2, or a pawl 8 acting to drive the wheel 2 through wheels 9, 10. The pawls 5, 8 are actuated respectively according as the consumption is above or below a certain limiting rate, so that, when the consumption in a given time is above a limiting rate, the commodity is charged for at a different price.
