Abstract

486,794. Adapting automatic guns for practice fire. OESTERREICHISCHE AGA-WERKE AKT.-GES. Dec. 16, 1936, No. 34547. Convention date, April 27. Addition to 485,205. [Classes 92 (ii) and 119] Relates to automatic guns adapted for practice fire with pneumatically propelled pellets and having means for simulating recoil as described and claimed in the parent Specification. According to the present invention, the compressed air passages 18, 19 in the pneumatic cylinder 12 which respectively effect discharge of the pellet and force the piston 8 rearwards are opened simultaneously at the end of the forward movement of the piston. As in the parent invention, the compressed air for discharge is supplied through a valve 16 the stem 15 of which engages a groove 9 in the piston 8 and the air passes through a hollow stem 7 on the piston which also serves to push the pellets into the practice barrel 25 from a spring-feed magazine 30. The piston 8 is connected to a cocking member 1 moved rearwards against the action of a recoil spring (not shown) and retained by a trigger. On release, the piston 8 moves forwards and raises the stem 15 to admit pressure to a chamber 17. At the end of the forward movement, the front part 8<1> of the piston opens the passage 18 to admit air to the discharge passage 10 and simultaneously a shoulder 13 on the part 8<1> moves a sleeve 11 to open passage 19 to admit air in front of the piston to cause recoil of the parts. On recoil, a shoulder 14 returns the sleeve 11 and opens the exhaust passage 20. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 describes also a pellet magazine in the form of a helical tube fed from a hopper with the assistance of air pressure derived from the gun. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
