Abstract
484,608. Windscreen - cleaners. TALBOT, W. E., MOON, A. T.. and TRIGGS, C.S. Nov. 11, 1936, No. 3073]. [Class 138 (i)] [Also in Group XXIV] In a windscreen-cleaner of the kind in which the wiper blade is reciprocated by means of a follower engaging in a continuous thread formed of overlapping right- and left-hand thread portions cut in a rotatable shaft, the pitch of the threads is not uniform so that the speed of the blade is varied as it travels across the face of the windscreen. As shown, the shaft 3 is formed with thread portions a<1>, b<1> at each end which are of finer pitch than the portions a, b so that the speed of the follower 5 increases as it approaches the end grooves c. Two or more wipers may be driven from a single shaft with separate sets of continuous threads each engaged by a follower.
