Abstract

482,061. Cable joints. PIRELLIGENERAL CABLE WORKS, Ltd., and HORLEY, R. E. Jan. 1, 1937, No. 41. [Class 38 (i)] [Also in Group XXVIII] A metal sleeve for enclosing a cable joint is formed of sections having overlapping portions that telescope together. The sections may each be built up from a main cylindrical member 1, and a, conical end part 2 brazed or soldered to the member 1 and wiped to the cable sheath 3. The telescoping portions may be formed as enlargements 4 soldered to the members 1. If a sealed joint is required between the portions, a metal bellows 5 is soldered at its ends to the members 4 and fits within the inner member 4 that prevents strain on the bellows due to internal pressure. Filling nozzles 6 may be provided on the members 1.
