Abstract
480,559. Thrust bearings. CAROBRONZE ROHRENWERK-GES. April 23. 1937, No. 11618. Convention date, April 23, 1936. [Class 12 (i)] In a thrust bearing, one of the bearing members is provided internally and concentrically with an annular walled recess f so that upon load the wall deforms to permit the bearing surface a to incline towards the axis of rotation to avoid rupture of the lubricant film between the bearing surfaces. The bearing surface may have slots c, and the supporting surface e may be spherical. As shown, both shaft collar 2, Fig. 15, and the bearing ring 1 have a groove f and the dimensions o, q of the bearing correspond to the equivalent ball bearing. The bearing member may have an additional groove g, Fig. 12, and the supporting surface e may have a thinned deformable portion i and slots k. The bearing surface between the slots c may be tapered as at m, Fig. 14.
