Abstract

478,760. Removing dust in industrial processes. GREAVES, A., SPENCER, H., and ROTHWELL, J. Nov. 5, 1936, No. 30085. [Class 8 (ii)] [Also in Group IX] In a Crighton opener for treating cotton fibres, suction devices are provided to draw air from the chamber 1 outside the grid bars 14 so as to remove light waste matter which does not readily fall to the floor 4 and to prevent its being drawn back again into the beater by the suction through the fibre outlet 10. Two rotatable nozzles 8 having oblique apertures 9 are mounted telescopically in conduits 2, the light waste material being withdrawn by a fan 3 to a settling chamber 7. If desired, nozzles may also be provided in the other two corners of the casing, while in a modification the conduit 2 may be above the opener.
