Abstract

477,061. Bolt sockets. NATIONAL LEAD CO. Aug. 25, 1936, No. 23333. Convention date, Dec. 20, 1935. [Class 89 (i)] An anchorage for a bolt in a socket is pro. vided by an enlarged head co-operating with an obturating ring and a third member acting as a lead seal. The bolt head 4 is provided with a ring 2 having a conical surface which may be corrugated, and over this sits an obturating ring 1 having a corresponding conical surface and being adapted to spring or yield on being forced over the head 2 so that its outer periphery contacts with the wall of the hole 5. The obturating ring 1 may be partly driven home or entirely driven by a lead ring 6 which is forced into position to seal entirely the space between the bolt 3 and the walls of the hole 5. In order that the ring 1 may yield without breaking on its exterior, it may be initially slotted as at 10 in a partly tangential direction. The conical space 2 may be integral with the nut head 4 or separate. When separate, the parts 2 and 6 may be initially fitted together so as to be supplied as a unit.
