[Class 135] [Also in Group XII] The air inlets to the tuyere blocks of underfeed stokers are controlled by dampers 94 which are actuated by the difference of air pressure on their upper and lower sides and also by fluid jets supplied through nozzles 98 on a pipe 99 and projected against extensions on the dampers. The strength of the jets varies in accordance with the pressure in the plenum chamber 109 which acts on a diaphragm 108 to control a valve 114 in a pipe 101 leading air from an auxiliary source of air pressure to the jets.
