[Class 138 (i)] A dish-washing machine comprises a closed compartment for accommodating the dishes, a spraying device for directing washing liquid over the dishes, another spraying device for directing rinsing liquid through the same zone over the dishes, separate supply tanks for the spraying devices, the tanks communicating directly or indirectly with a common filling device, an oversow formed so that both tanks may be filled to a predetermined level by the filling device, and means for starting and stopping the operation of either of the spraying devices. In the construction shown in the Figure, partitions 11, 12 form with the casing 10 three parts, the upper part 22 containing rinsing liquid, the central part 18 containing washing liquid, spray pipes and supports for, dishes, and the lower part 13 containing an electric motor 23 and pumps 24, 25. Liquid is fed to the upper part 22 through an opening 4 or by means of a hose 50 connected to a warm water tap 53, excess liquid overflowing through a pipe 42 on to a perforated container 55 for soap or disinfectant provided in the chamber 18. This chamber has an overflow 43, excess liquid running to waste. The washing liquid is adapted to communicate with the pump 24 through a channel 26 which can be closed by a valve 35 connected to one end of a lever 39, the other end of which is connected to a valve 36 controlling the supply of rinsing liquid to the pump 25. When one pump is connected with its associated liquid supply, the other pump is disconnected. The pumps 24, 25 are connected to supply liquid to spray pipes 28, 33, respectively. In a modification, the container for rinsing liquid surrounds the container for washing liquid.
