[Class 37] [Also in Group XL] A condenser is provided with means for automatically varying the spacing between the plates to counterbalance the effect of an increase in the area of the plates due to temperature changes. The plate 5 of the condenser 4, 5 is supported on the plate 4 at a number of points by means of rods 20, 21 arranged as shown ; the rods may be formed of materials having different temperature coefficients.
