Abstract

473,563. Transformers. ELLIOTT BROS. (LONDON), Ltd., and SHOTTER, G. F. April 22, 1936, No. 11487. [Class 38 (ii)] [Also in Group XXXVIII] Electrical apparatus for transmitting indications or movements to a distance comprises a magnetic circuit excited by alternating current and provided with a long parallel air gap in which a coil, connected to a distant indicator, is movable by the apparatus, the movements of which are to be transmitted. As shown in the Figure, a float 13 controls the movements of a coil 9 in the air gaps 3 of an E-shaped magnet 1, 2 having an exciting winding b. In a modification, the coil 9 is mounted for rotary motion and embraces a limb supported parallel to the upper circular surface of a pot magnet. For compensating magnetic fringing at the open ends of the air gaps a coil connected in series and in opposition to the coil 9 may be arranged on the central leg 1.
