Abstract

473,562. Flow meters. NATHAN, M. L. April 20, 1936, No. 11314. [Class 69 (i)] A Venturi meter comprises an annular recess 5 surrounding the throat and communicating with the pressure off-take 6, the width of the recess being between À025 and 1D, where D is the diameter of the tube 8 in which the meter is installed. The outer diameter of the recess may be between 1À2 and 2d, and preferably 1À5d, where d is the diameter of the throat. The inlet cone 1 is straight-walled or otherwise formed so as not to merge into the throat, and may have an angle between 30‹ and 70‹, preferably 50‹. The angle of the outlet cone 2 may be between 10‹ and 20‹, preferably 15‹.
