[Class 94 (i)] A machine for wrapping pills and the like comprises means for feeding a predetermined number on to a flat wrapper, which is then thrust by a plunger through an opening to close the wrapper about the pills, and means for finally constricting the neck of the wrapping at more than two points to form a corrugated construction by means of sealing elements shaped to embrace the wrapping to form a concentric seal. A strip 20, Fig. 3, of wrapping material, which may be waxed paper, tin foil, &c., is fed over a table 16 by a flanged roller 21 passing through openings in the table to engage the underside of the strip and press it into engagement with a driven roller 22 urged downwardly by a spring 24. The strip is fed into a slot 31 over an opening 32, and a length is severed by a knife 25. Pills &c. are contained in a hopper 36 and are removed by a slide 35 having apertures 39. The slide reciprocates and at the top of the stroke delivers the pills into the upper end 34 of a shoot 33. The pills pass down the shoot to a position over the wrapper and a plunger 46 thrusts them, with the wrapper, through the opening 32 which turns up the wrapper to form an open - ended container. Jaws 54, Figs. 6 and 8, engage the upper part 60 of the wrapper to form a corrugated constriction. The jaws are formed with V- shaped notches 56, and intersect each other as shown in Fig. 6, when in the advanced position. In a modified construction, Fig. 9, a similar effect is obtained by blades 54 having bosses 61 having curved faces to engage the wrapper. The blades may be heated to ensure retention of the folds.
