472,961. Static rectifiers; light - sensitive cells. RUPP, H. March 30, 1936, No. 9396. [Class 40 (iii)] [Also in Group XXXVI] In the manufacture of dry rectifiers, photoelectric cells or thermo-couples, employing a semi-conducting layer of selenium, small quantities of halogens, or organic compounds with halogens dissociating at the '' forming " temperature, are added to the selenium to assist the " forming " process and enable high rectifying power and comparatively low resistance to be obtained. To obtain good contact with the selenium the counter electrode is provided with a layer of low melting point alloy which is brought to the molten condition while in contact with the selenium.
