[Class 80 (ii)] A two-speed gear suitable for a rear-axle drive comprises aligned driving and driven shafts a, b with sun gears j, j fast upon them respectively. Stepped planets k<1>, k meshing with these sun gears are supported in a revoluble housing c formed with internally-coned friction surfaces c<1>, c<2>. When a cone clutch d splined on the shaft f is slid into mesh with the surface c<1>, a solid drive results. When a brake cone e splined on a fixed frame e<1> is slid into mesh with the surface c<2>, a geared drive results. The cones d, e are preferably moved in unison manually.
