Abstract

469,547. Inclinometers. KING, K., and KING'S TRIM INDICATOR, Ltd. July 17, 1936, No. 26242/35. [Class 97 (ii)] A trim indicator for ships, aircraft, &c., comprises a pendulum 52, universally pivoted at 54 and engaged by two arms 62, 83 at rightangles to each other and operating respectively pointers indicating the transverse and fore-andaft inclination. The pendulum weight is formed as a hollow vessel 50 partially filled with a heavy liquid, e.g. mercury. A vessel 107 similar to but smaller than the vessel 50 may be carried by an extension 106 of the pendulum stem beyond the pivot 54. The vessel 50 preferably moves in a body of liquid and is provided with damping vanes 98. As shown the arms 62, 83 are forked to embrace the pendulum 52 and are connected by gearing to two concentric pointers.
