466,309. Treating coffee berries &c. KRUPP GRUSONWERK AKT.-GES., F. May 4, 1936, No. 12616. Convention date, March 28. [Class 58] Coffee berries and similar fruits have the outer flesh removed in a pulping device consisting of a rotating roller 4 co-operating with an abutment 5 the escape of the berries being controlled by an adjustable slot 6 : the detached flesh is discharged through a channel 10, the berries passing through the slot to a pipe 11 by which they are fed into a cleaning cylinder 1 provided with a concentric internal rotary drum 2 fitted with projections 3 to remove the last traces of flesh from the berries. Washing water supplied to the drum through its hollow axle 12 passes through perforations 18 into the annular space between the drum and the casing. The cylinder is formed with perforations 19 through which the water and mucilaginous matter escapes the cleaned berries passing out through an aperture 15.
