Abstract
464,936. Weighing-apparatus. SPENSERS (LONDON), Ltd., and BRUNTON, H. D. Dec. 6, 1935, No. 33863. [Class 143] A device for weighing a container holding combustible gas or other fluid comprises a base having a fulcrum support for the container and a leaf spring which supports the container at a point opposite the fulcrum, suitable mechanism being provided for indicating the deflection of the spring. The fulcrum support consists of two spaced pillars 3 on which the container 6 may tip about a chord of its base. The opposite side of the container is supported on a leaf spring 7 bent at 11 to receive the rim of the container. A reduced portion 10 of the leaf spring engages the short arm 15 of an indicating pointer rotatable upon a quadrantal dial plate 12. The longer arm of the indicating pointer may be angularly adjustable relative to the short arm to permit of zero adjustment. The dial plate is adjustable horizontally to vary the effective length of the short arm of the pointer according to the stiffness of the leaf spring. If the container is connected by metal tubing 20, Fig. 4, to a wall bracket 25, the tubing is provided with a number of coils 21, 22 of opposite hands to give flexibility to the tube and permit the container to rise as it empties.
