[Class 12 (i)] A cylindrical journal bearing has a rotating collar 2 operating with the non-rotating ring element 3. The contacting surface 6 of these is supplied with lubricant by passages 28 leading from annular grooves 31. The groove 34 is inclined to the axis of the shaft. Axial thrust is supported by the rings 11 which are carried by the caps 10, these bearing against the cardan rings 20. Specification 462,602 is referred to.
