464,004. Plate heat - exchangers. BERGEDORFER EISENWERK AKT.-GES. ASTRA-WERKE. March 18, 1936, Nos. 8155, 8156, 8157, 8158, 8159, and 8160. Convention dates, May 23, 1935, Aug. 3, 1935, Nov. 14, 1935, Dec. 7, 1935, Dec. 7, 1935, and Jan. 8, 1936. [Class 64 (iii)] Apparatus, e.g. for heating milk, comprises a stack of spaced sheet-metal plates having pressed spacing ridges d not exceeding 1À5 mm. in height which direct the milk from an inlet port b to an outlet port e without reversal of flow. The central ridges of the plates may be formed with enlargements h, Fig. 11, to increase the resistance to flow through the relatively short central channels. The plates may be dished around their inlet and outlet ports, as shown in Fig. 5. Alternatively, one plate may be dished and the adjacent plate left plane. The plates may be formed with marginal grooves containing rubber packing rings g, Figs. 8, 9.
