Abstract

463,844. Packages; opening by cutting &c. NICOLLE, C. A. June 4, 1936, No. 15622. [Classes 66, 94 (i), and 94 (ii)] Packings for cigars &c. formed from sheets 1 of plastic material, and having one or more cavities 2 in which the contents are hermetically sealed by adhesion between flat surfaces 4 bounding the cavities, are characterized in that a non-adhering portion 3 of narrow width, e.g. 1 to 2 mm., is left around the edge of the cavities 2 so that like contents may be easily released by cutting or tearing the packing. The upper edge of the packing may be furnished with a small slit 5 appropriate to each cavity so that the tear may easily be commenced for opening the same. Alternatively, Fig. 2, the upper edge 6 may be toothed at 6a, 6b, the slits for tearing being shown at 7. In a further 'modification, Fig. 4, tabs 3a, 3<1>a may be pro. vided on the two parts so that separation of the same is easily effected. The walls may be formed double with a space therebetween.
