Abstract
463,823. Conical roller bearings. RUHRHANDEL GES. Jan. 29, 1936, Nos. 2634, 2635, and 2636. Convention dates, Jan. 30, 1935, Jan. 30, 1935, and March 21, 1935. [Class 12 (i)] A wheel is mounted by a pair of conical roller bearings. on an axle journal having several diameters. The inner race ring of the inner bearing is mounted on the largest diameter, and upon a smaller diameter is fixed a retaining ring, the distance between the inner bearing race rings being adjusted by thin washers or by springs. As shown in Fig. 1, a ring e<1> screwed on the axle and washer k space the inner race rings c, f, the race ring f being mounted on a ring e<2> pinned to the axle. The rings e<1>, e<2>, may be integral with one another. Alternatively, the ring e<2> may be split and have a flange engaging an annular groove in the axle. In a modification the ring e<1> is replaced by a strong spring m, Fig. 4, and the race rings c, f, are spaced by rings l, and washers k, or by a spring n. Alternatively a short spring may be arranged between each end of the spring m and the adjacent race ring c, f. Specification 442,541 is referred to.
