Abstract
463,497. Cycle stands. GIBBONS, Ltd., J., and GIBBONS, F. J. J. Jan. 14, 1936, No. 1166. [Class 136 (i)] A cycle stand comprises two or more curved wheel-receiving channels d, which are separately pivoted at j about horizontal axes and are adapted to rock forward on receiving the front wheel of a bicycle, so as to provide a holding cradle therefor, the channels being pivoted along a longitudinal rail a of a base frame resting on the ground or floor and comprising a second parallel rail b towards which the channels rock, and transverse rails c interconnecting, and preferably extending as steadying feet beyond the ends of, the longitudinal rails a, b. The rails a, b, c are of angle section. The channels are of skeleton form, each composed of two flat arcuate strips d interconnected at the ends and intermediately by U-shaped metal strips e forming stirrups for receiving a wheel. To enable alternate bicycles to be supported at a higher level, the channels are mounted alternately on U-shaped flat strips f, those at the lower level being mounted on angular strips h, and the strips f, h are pivoted by means of brackets i, k to the horizontal and vertical flange respectively of the rail a.
