Abstract
463,362. Oil engines. PORSCHE GES., DR. ING. H.C.F., and RABE, K. June 5, 1936, No. 15835. [A Specification was laid open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, Dec. 16, 1936.] [Classes 7 (ii) and 7 (iii)] Fuel is injected from a nozzle 17 carried by a water-cooled plug 14 through a passage 2 in an incandescent member 1 into a precombustion chamber 9 which communicates with the cylinder space through a passage 7. At starting, the compression ratio is increased by seating a screwed plunger 26 on the end of the member 1. The member 1 has a conical seating 5 in the chamber 9 and may be made of heat-resisting steels. The piston has an inclined surface 21 which slopes downwards towards the passage 7. The precombustion chamber may be arranged vertically in the cylinder or cylinder head or at an inclination to the cylinder axis.
