Abstract

462,657. Endless - belt conveyers. DRYDEN, W. July 12, 1935, Nos. 19899 and 21572. [Class 78 (i)] In a conveyer of the kind in which the working run 10 is supported by a tray 14 of concave cross-section, a supply of lubricant is maintained between the face of the belt in contact with the trough and the trough, and the driving pulley 24 is situated in a re-entrant portion of the conveyer and acts on the unlubricated face of the belt. The lubricant may be supplied by a device 33, or a lubricant, such as graphite, may be incorporated in the belt during manufacture, or the lubricant, which may be solid, powdered or semi-liquid, or woven or spongy pads impregnated with lubricant, may be inserted in circular cavities or continuous grooves in the belt. In some cases the wearing surface of a rubber or balata belt may be composed of asbestos which is impregnated with graphite or other lubricant. Guide rollers 19, Fig. 2, maintain the belt in correct position. The return run of the belt is supported by marginal flat plates 21.
