Abstract
462,329. Valve generating circuits. MARCONI'S WIRELESS TELEGRAPH CO., Ltd., and BELL, D. A. Sept. 7, 1935, No. 24970. [Class 40 (v)] An oscillation generator comprising a back-coupled valve is locked into step with a synchronizing voltage by applying that voltage to a grid situated between the anode and the backcoupled grid. As shown, the anode circuit includes a tuned circuit 2, 3 back-coupled to a coil 7 in the inner grid circuit. Synchronizing voltages are applied through a condenser 12 to the outer grid 9 which is biassed positively to a point which gives large variation of oscillatory output for small variation of voltage. When a pentode valve is used, the synchronizing voltages are applied to either the screen grid or the suppressor grid. The synchronizing voltages may be of the same frequency as the output oscillations, but preferably are a multiple or sub-multiple of the output frequency. Between the outer grid 9 and the cathode, a network may be interposed which has high impedance at the synchronizing frequency, but low impedance at the output frequency, Figs. 3 and 4 (not shown).
