Abstract
462,138. Luggage-carriers. PARKES, J., and SUN CYCLE & FITTINGS CO., Ltd. Sept. 6, 1935, No. 24838. [Class 136 (i)] A luggage-carrier for pedal cycles and more particularly of the type adapted to support the bottom of a saddle bag, is constructed as follows so that it can be adjusted by a vertical pivotal movement and secured in any required position, e.g. according to the size or vertical adjustment of the bag. The carrier comprises two lengths of wire or rod a bent to a V-formation and each having arms of different lengths, the longer arm a<1> being pivoted at c, c<1> to the rear fork d. The shorter arm a<2>-sockets into tubular members e, which are pivoted at e<1>, e<2> to the fork d, whereby on adjustment of the inclination of the arms a<1> the arms a<2> telescope in the members e, the parts being secured in adjusted position by means of bolts f and wing-nuts f <1>. The top is completed by two or more sheet-metal crosspieces g, g<1> the piece g having an upward extension g<2> adapted to be interposed between the saddle bag and the saddle pillar securing lug.
