461,897. Tank vehicles. TENNANT, W. J. (Tatra Works Ltd. Motor Car & Railway Carriage & Wagon Builders) Aug. 23, 1935, No. 23654. [Classes 103 (iv) and 108 (i)] In a tank wagon a central chassis member passes entirely through the receptacle for the liquid and is fastened to the end surfaces of the receptacle in a liquid-tight manner, or the receptacle is provided with a wall entirely or partly surrounding the central chassis member. As shown, the central supporting underframe member 1 passes through the tank, a surrounding tube 9 being welded to the end walls 8, 8a. The member 1 is provided with supports 5, 6 adapted to be secured to brackets 7 on the tank and the axles and springs &c. are secured to the central member 1 in known manner. In modifications the member 1 may fit tightly in the tube 9 or may pass through the tank and be welded to the end walls without a tube, or it may pass through a channel shaped recess formed in the lower part of the tank.
